What Does Vitamin-C Serum Do To Your Skin?

What Does Vitamin-C Serum Do To Your Skin?

“Vitamin-C” apparently is one of the must-have ingredient in our skincare stash. Everyone is looking for the most potent one these days, Isn’t it?
However, it is very easy to get confused about the wonderful ingredients used in the skincare products, which to use, how to use and when to use is the common confusing questions.

Let this post help you get an insight about Vitamin C uses in Skincare world, so fasten up your seat belts as we are going to enter the world of our HERO ingredient i.e. VITAMIN C.

Vitamin - C is also known as L-ASCORBIC ACID. An anti-oxidant, loaded in all the citrus fruits by nature but can also be lab made, although same thing.
It has been dermatologically tested & proven to reduce the production of melanin in skin, thus effective in hyper-pigmentation problem. This acid containing anti-oxidants helps to fight with free radicals in skin cells.
Noticeable results can be seen in fading the acne scars/marks by using Vitamin C cream or serum.

Not many of us know that Vitamin C serum also has mild exfoliation properties,  it gently sloughs-off the dead skin cells, while also, stimulating skin to generate collagen (kind of cement to skin cells) which help in providing elasticity and strengthens the skin barrier. So, basically Vitamin C Serums is no less than GOLD for the skin.

  • What are the benefits of Vitamin-C?

  • It reduces wrinkles through anti-oxidants.

  • Aids in brightening up dull skin.

  • Evens out skin complexion with the lightning of the acne marks, sun spots and hyper-pigmentation.

  • It stimulates the production of collagen & elastin which delays ageing, keep skin firm, youthful & radiant.

  • It fights the free radicals (which is one of the major reasons of ageing), so basically Vitamin-C also works as an antioxidant which works as a bodyguard for the skin and hence keep the skin healthy looking.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND (DON’TS)

  • Do not use AHA/BHA in your skincare routine at the same time, when applying Vitamin-C as AHA, BHA and VITAMIN-C all exfoliates the skin, so you’ll be over exfoliating the skin (we obviously don’t flaky skin).

  • Do not use NIACINAMIDE (a type of Vitamin-B) with Vitamin-C as these two ingredients don’t work together at all and can cause irrigation of the skin. So do AM & PM routine separately for them.

  • Do not keep Vitamin-C loose, or under direct sunlight as it will oxidize very quickly and will not be of any use, just like Apple turns brown after it is cut open left in the air for too long.

  • Do not step outside under sunlight, without applying Sunscreen especially during the use of Vitamin C serums in Skincare, because it will darken your skin further as Vitamin C acid is photosensitive acid.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND (DO’S)

  •  -You can mix Vitamin-C with Vitamin-E as these two ingredients penetrates deep inside the skin, enhances the antioxidant function and works really effectively with each other.

  • You can use Vitamin- C by mixing it in light mild essence, serums and moisturizers that are highly hydrating.

  • Again, if you will not put the sunscreen that it will do more harm to the skin than doing wonders and rather reverse all the good it has done to the skin so far.

  • Always keep Vitamin- C in the fridge or in a cool place for longevity and to delay its oxidation.

  • Try to finish one bottle in 40 days to get the most out of Vitamin C serum potency.

 SOME FINAL TIPS

You can start using Vitamin- C in your early 20’s but start with a product that have a very low percentage of Vitamin-C example 5% initially.
Once your skin get used to the product then you can go for the product with the higher concentration ranging from 15 – 30%. In no way, we mean the higher the concentration the better it will work on skin.

We recommend:Brands:

“Dear Klairs” freshly juiced Vitamin Drop.

“SOME BY MI” Galactomyces pure Vitamin-C glow serum.

"SKIN & LAB Dr. Color Effect Red Serum"

You can use Vitamin-C in the day time as well as in the night time but don’t forget to apply a sunscreen in the day time and a heavy water-based moisturizer at night afterwards.

Hope now you know all about this magical ingredient to pick the best choice.

Let’s K-beauty!

Much Love,
